Hakes and Hakes Win at Evergreen!

Cloudy skies, very little wind and fish in all stages of the spawn greeted competitors at Lake Evergreen May 12th. What set up as perfect conditions and high expectations turned just the opposite with only 26 total bass brought to the scales.

Brothers Randy and Rob Hakes took home first at the second Sam Leman EverBloom event with 4 fish weighing 10.53 pounds. They are also leading the Sam Leman Heavyweight of the Year standings after two events with 20.89 pounds.

Stormy, wet, and cool conditions met a full field of 25 boats at the first Sam Leman Ever-Bloom Tournament at Lake Bloomington April 14.

Main lake fish seemed to dominate the field and last years Sam Leman Heavyweight and Classic winners Brad Norris and Jamie Maisenbacher got an early start on a repeat performance in 2012 with a winning 5 bass limit of bass weighing 14.45 pounds. In second place was veteran crankbait experts Dave Norris and Greg Bayles with 5 that weighted 12.81 pounds. Norris fished most of the day with a crankbait attached to his hand as result of a mishap early in the day. That is one tough guy!

The last regular season event of the Strike King Ever-Bloom TT was held August 28. Super low water conditions with the lake dropping nearly 5 feet in the last two weeks took much of the vegetation out of the equation, but as always the teams in this trail rose to the occasion with two limits and two 12 pound sacks of bass were brought to the scales.

Rain soaked weigh ins are not fun but just about every team braved the elements to stay and watch. Thanks to Pat Welch, Dusty Whitacre and Mike Blake for making sure we got the fish weighed in and back into the water. Tough conditions for sure.

Whalen and Robinson win at Bloomington...

Full moon, no wind, a beautiful day with light boat traffic and Dave Whalen had the flu. You couldn't tell it though as he and his partner Ryan Robinson walked away with the 3rd stop on the EverBloom Tournament Trail on Lake Bloomington with a 5 bass limit weighing 14.13. Whalen and Flynn have been on a tear recently and even the flu and a hat on sideways couldn't keep them from taking this event and also taking over the lead for the Sam Leman Heavyweight of the Year. They have 21.70 pounds after this event. They are followed by Ken Petersen and Fred Myers with 20.61 and Terry Brown and Mike Blake with
17.39 pounds.
